Gardner 52* trumps Renuka's 4 for 18 as Australia come back from the brink

Harris and Gardner rescued Australia from the pits of 49 for 5

Shashank Kishore29-Jul-2022Women’s cricket got off to a spectacular start in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, with Australia giving India a reminder that you can never write them off, even in near-impossible situations. Chasing 155, Australia were reduced to 49 for 5 after an incisive burst of 4 for 18 from seamer Renuka Singh, but Ashleigh Gardner and Grace Harris pulled off an incredible rescue act to win with an over to spare.A skyrocketing asking-rate that had Australia needing 89 off the last 10 overs eventually turned into a cruise. Harris, who was batting in a T20I for the first time since 2016, smashed 37 off 20 balls, while Gardner stayed unbeaten on 52 off 35 to give Australia a winning start in pursuit of their maiden gold medal.India’s spinners prove ineffective
Apart from Deepti Sharma, every other India spinner was extremely expensive. Left-armer Radha Yadav, in particular, struggled on a pitch that did not offer the kind of bite that she thrives on. When she pitched short, Harris targeted the square boundaries on both sides of the wicket, and when she went full, Harris stepped out and powered the ball straight down the ground. The other left-arm spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad also suffered, going for 24 runs in two overs. Thriving against spin, Harris and Gardner raised their 50-run partnership off 31 balls and put the pressure right back on India.Australia just keep coming
India broke that damaging partnership off the last ball of the 13th over, when Harmanpreet Kaur ran sideways to catch Harris, leaving Australia with 55 to get off 42 balls with only four wickets in hand. The moment should have galvanised India; instead it spurred Australia on. The No. 8 Alana King demonstrated their batting depth, smacking three boundaries in her unbeaten 18 off 16 balls. When Gardner brought up her half-century, Australia were just three away from victory, and King clattered the winning boundary through midwicket off the final ball of the 19th over.Renuka Singh bowled a ripper to dismiss Tahlia McGrath•Getty ImagesRenuka’s dream spell
Renuka doesn’t have much pace; she relies on accuracy, swing and subtle variations off the pitch. With her second ball, she had the formidable Alyssa Healy poking to slip. Renuka then had Meg Lanning caught at point for 8; the batter’s indecision between playing a full-blooded cut or a gentle push proving to be her undoing. After Beth Mooney chopped on for 10 and Tahlia McGrath lost her leg stump to one that cut back in, Renuka had taken four wickets in her first 13 balls. At that stage, India were favourites to win, despite not scoring as much as they should have.Smriti shines, briefly
India had made a promising start before their innings unravelled. Let off in the second over by Haynes, Smriti Mandhana stepped out of her crease repeatedly to negate any swing at Edgbaston. She drove through the covers, lofted the spinners, and pulled in front of square to race to 24 off 16 balls, but eventually nicked Darcie Brown to the wicketkeeper in the fourth over.Lucky Shafali tees off
After a small role-reversal, in which she played second fiddle to Mandhana, Shafali Verma displayed her destructive powers by lofting Megan Schutt down the ground, and showed she has a delicate game too by glancing the legspin of King to the boundary. Australia let Shafali off three times – once when Healy broke the stumps with her empty right hand while the ball was in her left glove. The India opener went on to score 48 off 33 balls before she was out to a leg-side strangle against left-arm spinner Jess Jonassen, who finished with figures of 4 for 22.Harmanpreet’s leg-side range
Harmanpreet’s love for the leg side is no secret, but that doesn’t make it easy to stop her. Australia placed multiple fielders on the leg-side boundary, but Harmanpreet still found the gaps to top score for India with 52 off 34 balls. But her momentum was stalled by Jonassen cutting through the middle order at the other end, and India could only score 39 runs in the last five overs of their innings.

Jake Libby's unbeaten ton gives Worcestershire upper hand at Hove

Sussex attack toils with returning spinner Jack Carson the only bowler to enjoy success

Jake Libby cements Worcestershire’s dominance with a century•Andrew Miller

Worcestershire 289 for 2 (Libby 142*, Pollock 98) lead Sussex 220 (Carson 58, Coles 54, Hudson-Prentice 51, Leach 4-37) by 69 runsJake Libby scored his second hundred in three games against Sussex to put Worcestershire in a strong position after two days at the 1st Central County Ground. The former Nottinghamshire player’s undefeated 142 – his second hundred of the season – helped his side reach 289 for 2, a lead of 69, in the 50 overs possible at Hove between the showers before bad light ended play at 5pm.Libby’s 125 not out had guided Worcestershire to victory over Sussex in a fourth-innings run chase at New Road a year ago and this effort could be a match-defining performance too as they look for the victory that would keep their hopes of promotion in the LV= Insurance County Championship alive. It was his 12th first-class century, second of the season and third against Sussex. Against them back in 2014 he became the first Nottinghamshire batsman for 68 years to score a hundred on debut. It has been a composed and chanceless effort so far, and the 29-year-old got to his century by stylishly forcing Brad Currie off the back foot for successive boundaries through the covers.Libby had added 195 for the first wicket with Ed Pollock, who agonisingly fell for 98, and 54 with Azhar Ali for the second before Jack Haynes (14 not out) joined him in an unbroken partnership of 40.Rain was never far away all day, with the floodlights on from the start, but umpires Nigel Llong and Hasan Adnan deserve every credit for keeping the players on for as much as they did when light but persistent drizzle set in during the afternoon.Apart from an lbw shout by Currie when Pollock was on 45, Worcestershire’s openers made serene progress in the morning session against a Sussex seam attack who could make little headway on a flat pitch.Pollock took two boundaries in the last over before lunch off Faheem Ashraf to move to 98 but in the second over after the resumption he tried to cut offspinner Jack Carson and wicketkeeper Oli Carter held the edge at the second attempt. Pollock’s innings included 16 fours and a six.Carson struck again in his 13th over when he dismissed Azhar for 16 as the former Pakistan captain got in a tangle attempting a pull shot and the ball looped off his bat to Tom Clark at slip.Carson, in his first match after a summer wrecked by knee and ankle injuries, was the pick of the attack despite the lack of assistance from the surface. He and skipper Tom Haines, who bowled eight overs at a cost of only 11 runs, offered control but Sussex’s seamers made little headway while Fynn Hudson-Prentice is only allowed to bowl nine overs in each innings as part of his rehabilitation following a back injury. There was a 90-minute rain break and when play resumed at 4.10pm only six more overs were bowled before bad light forced the teams off. Sussex will have a new ball available immediately on Wednesday but Worcestershire are in the driving seat.

West Ham make £30m bid to sign in-form striker as Potter eyes "major coup"

West Ham United have made a bid to sign an in-form striker for manager Graham Potter in a late January window move that would apparently be a “major coup”.

West Ham maintain late January search for new centre-forward

Injuries to Michail Antonio and Niclas Füllkrug have left Potter with Danny Ings as his sole senior striking option, prompting West Ham to enter the market among many Premier League clubs trying to sign a number nine before the 3rd February deadline.

West Ham were seriously attempting to land Brian Brobbey from Ajax, even agreeing personal terms on a £100,000-per-week deal (talkSPORT), but that move is now looking unlikely after financial complications.

West Ham then had a bid rejected for PSV Eindhoven star Ricardo Pepi, so the east Londoners haven’t exactly had much luck lately when it comes to acquiring their desired top targets.

Now, Brighton starlet Evan Ferguson is deemed a primary target for West Ham, and Potter’s side are optimistically attempting to get an agreement sealed ahead of stiff rumoured competition from Arsenal, Bayer Leverkusen, Bournemouth, Everton and Tottenham (Jacob Steinberg).

Amid their chase for the Irishman, West Ham chiefs are also planning for the future, and have their eyes on highly rated young striker Eli Junior Kroupi.

The FC Lorient ace has bagged nine goals in all competitions for the Ligue 2 side as he helps push their promotion bid, with Kroupi’s form attracting attention from the London Stadium.

West Ham make £30 million bid to sign Eli Junior Kroupi

The France Under-21 international is fast gaining a serious reputation. Teammate Tiémoué Bakayoko even compared the teenager to Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe, highlighting his quality at such a young age.

“He’s a phenomenon,” said Bakayoko.

“He reminds me a little of Kylian Mbappé in terms of the maturity of his game. He already has good stats for a youngster his age.”

Journalist Pete O’Rourke, writing via X, says West Ham have now made a £30m bid for Kroupi, so this could be one to keep an eye on as the window draws to a close.

“Understand West Ham have made an offer worth up to £30m for highly-rated Lorient forward Eli Junior Kroupi,” said O’Rourke.

“Kroupi is a target for a number of Europe’s top clubs after impressing at Lorient. Landing Kroupi would be a major coup for West Ham and Graham Potter.”

Clausura 2025 has come to an end, with the top spot changing hands multiple times throughout the tournament. James Rodríguez’s Club León had a strong start but suffered a disastrous finish, ultimately dropping to sixth place.

Defending champions América also led during the second half of the tournament, but a poor run in April – combined with an impressive streak by Toluca – allowed the Diablos to finish first. América, aiming for a fourth consecutive title, had to settle for second.

The final matchday included Pumas clinching the last playoff spot despite losing away to Tigres, while Chivas once again failed to qualify after a draw in the against Atlas.

The Diablos won’t know their quarterfinal opponent until the weekend of May 3, as they will face the winner of Pumas vs. FC Juárez against the loser of Monterrey vs. Pachuca.

América: Ended a five-game winless streak with a dominant 5–0 victory over Mazatlán FC in Matchday 17. Jardine’s side qualified in second place with 34 points, and the 17-day break will help injured players recover, including Henry Martín, Diego Valdés, Brian Rodríguez, Jonathan Dos Santos and Luis Ángel Malagón. América will face the winner of the play-in match between Rayados and Tuzos in the quarterfinals.

Cruz Azul: Secured third place with 33 points and boasts a 14-match unbeaten run. They’ll face León, who ended their campaign poorly with five losses in their last seven games. La Fiera, under scrutiny after their Club World Cup expulsion and visible dip in form, finished sixth with 30 points.

Tigres and Necaxa: Finished fourth and fifth, respectively. They will battle for a semifinal berth. Pizarro’s Tigres closed the season with 33 points, while Larcamón’s Necaxa had 31 and only one loss in their final five games.

Who will come out on top? The quarterfinal first legs will be played on May 7-8, with the second legs scheduled for May 10-11. The semifinals are set for May 14-15 (first legs) and May 17-18 (second legs). The Clausura 2025 Final will be played on May 22-25.

It remains uncertain whether Sergio Ramos will be available for this weekend’s game, after leaving the match against León with an injury.

Meanwhile, FC Juárez (ninth place) and Pumas (tenth) will face off to stay alive in the play-In and continue their push for a playoff spot. The winner will go on to face the loser of Tuzos vs. Rayados, with a ticket to face Toluca on the line.

Former Everton boss Sean Dyche and ex-Stoke City manager Steven Schumacher are two rumoured options for the Baggies, but it looks as if a familiar face could be eyeing a return.

West Brom in Tony Mowbray talks

According to club insider DOOD, West Brom have been in talks with former Baggies boss Tony Mowbray. The 61-year-old, who led the club between 2006-2009, is out of work but seemingly ready to return following a recent illness and is in discussions with those at The Hawthorns.

DOOD took to X to claim that the length of the contract on offer “could be a stumbling block” but discussions are ongoing.

Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray.

Mowbray, who plays a 4-2-3-1 system, has recently been hailed by pundit Carlton Palmer amid links of a return to the club, describing the manager as a “great coach”.

“It’s a very difficult situation West Brom find themselves in, they have a very talented squad and have a chance of securing another play-off place. I’m a really big fan of Tony Mowbray, he’s recovered from cancer, he’s a great coach and a great person.”

Palmer then added: “We know how good of a coach Tony Mowbray is and how well he works with young players, but it’s tricky to decide as we don’t know the circumstances around the finances in terms of player recruitment.

“If you’re a manager, it seems the right time to go in with the transfer window open and if they can bring a striker into this talented squad, then they certainly will be good enough to get into the play-offs.”

Mowbray, who has won two of the nine games against West Brom over the last six years, won the second-tier title with the Baggies back in 2008, so he may look for another promotion to the Premier League in the Midlands, making this one to watch.

Arsenal players whose contracts are expiring in 2025 – list

Arsenal have five players out of contract at the end of the 2024/25 season, two of whom are currently on loan, but how many will stay put?

Mikel Arteta will be desperate to win the Premier League and the Champions League in north London, so some key decisions may have to be made when it comes to players who are running down their deals at the Emirates Stadium.

Ranking Andrea Berta's 10 most expensive signings

Arsenal’s Edu replacement has splashed the cash in recent seasons.

ByStephan Georgiou Mar 11, 2025

While many important players are tied down to contracts for the foreseeable future, there are five individuals whose deals expire later this year:

1 Jorginho Contract expires: 30th June 2025

Jorginho has been an impressive signing for Arsenal since arriving from Chelsea, adding plenty of experience and control to the midfield. While not always a guaranteed starter, he has rarely let the Gunners down.

However, the midfielder is out of contract at the end of the current campaign, and considering he has just turned 33, the club have a big decision to make over his future.

Arteta and those high up at Arsenal may feel that this summer is the right time to allow Jorginho to move on to pastures new, considering his very best days are now likely behind him.

Getting him off the club’s wage bill would free up funds for a younger signing, so parting ways could make the most sense. The player himself may also like the idea of a fresh challenge in the autumn of his career, with agents believed to be in talks over his exit.

5 players who could leave Arsenal this January

A number of players could be on the move this winter…

ByDominic Lund Jan 17, 2025 2 Thomas Partey Contract expires: 30th June 2025

Thomas Partey has enjoyed a strong season for Arsenal, starting 16 matches in the Premier League, not to mention scoring and assisting twice apiece for good measure. While at his best in defensive midfield, he has also done a job at right-back, displaying his versatility.

Now 31, Partey isn’t getting any younger, and as is the case with Jorginho, the Gunners have to weigh up whether to offer him an extension at the end of the season.

Granted, the Ghanaian is younger than his fellow midfield teammate, but equally, handing him a sparkly new deal in his early 30s would be a risk, especially as the player may want a relatively longer-term contract of some kind at this stage.

The fact that Partey hasn’t always been the most available player because of injuries could also be a factor in Arsenal’s decision, and it is easy to envisage them letting him go in the summer, for all his strengths as a footballer. Reports have suggested that could well be the case.

3 Kieran Tierney Contract expires: 30th June 2025

Kieran Tierney’s time at Arsenal has ultimately been underwhelming, having arrived at the Emirates as one of the most exciting young full-backs in the UK.

The Scot was loaned out to Real Sociedad last season, suggesting that Arteta didn’t see him as an important part of his plans, and it now feels like a case of when he leaves, rather than if.

Tierney has been strongly linked with a return to former club Celtic during the January transfer window, which could appeal greatly to him, but it remains to be seen if he will end up back at Parkhead this month. A pre-contract deal could be agreed instead.

There would be a risk in that for Arsenal, considering they aren’t exactly littered with fit left-back options, so it may be that they wait until the summer to move him on. A January exit shouldn’t be ruled out, though.

Celtic's most expensive sales of all time

Celtic have let some of their finest talents move for big money in the past.

ByCharlie Smith Oct 3, 2025 4 Neto Contract expires: 30th June 2025

Jorginho, Partey and Tierney are all on permanent deals that expire at Arsenal in 2025, but Neto is one of two loanees whose contract will also be up in the summer.

The 35-year-old joined the Gunners on loan from Bournemouth to spend the 2024/25 season in north London, but no playing time has come his way.

Neto has not made a single appearance since his move from the Cherries, with David Raya predictably remaining first-choice between the sticks, and he will naturally depart when the campaign reaches its conclusion, with little hope of any renewal.

5 Raheem Sterling Contract expires: 30th June 2025

Raheem Sterling’s Chelsea career was growing stagnant when Arsenal came calling in the summer, with the Gunners snapping him up on a season-long loan deal.

There was hope that joining an exciting Gunners side could spark the 30-year-old back into life, but it has been a season to forget for him so far, with the winger struggling to have any kind of telling impact.

Sterling has only managed 12 appearances for Arsenal, with an injury absence not helping, while just one goal in the Carabao Cup has come his way. Arteta desperately needs him to stand up in the absence of the injured Bukayo Saka, but as things stand, he looks like a player whose best days are now firmly behind him.

Unless there are drastic improvements from the Englishman between now and the end of the season, Sterling will surely be shipped back to Chelsea in the summer, at which point he could be sold permanently by the Blues. The move was worth the risk for Arsenal, but it hasn’t been successful so far.

Aston Villa open late talks to sign "great" UCL winner in Coutinho repeat

Looking to finish the January transfer window with a flourish, Aston Villa have now reportedly opened talks to sign a Champions League winner in a repeat of their previous deal to sign Philippe Coutinho.

Aston Villa transfer news

It has been a hectic month for the Villans, from the arrival of Donyell Malen and Andres Garcia to the departures of Diego Carlos, Emiliano Buendia and most surprisingly Jhon Duran. Those in the Midlands simply could not turn down the reported €77m (£64m) offer sent their way by Al-Nassr and Duran, himself, could not turn down the Saudi riches this month, culminating in a shock move.

Left with money to spend to ease any profit and sustainability concerns, the rumours have been coming thick and fast in the closing days of the transfer window. Among players mentioned includes Joao Felix, who even received a mention from Aston Villa sporting director Monchi.

Aston Villa attempting quick deal to sign ace who's close to joining Spurs

Duran is expected to complete a move to Al-Nassr…

ByTom Cunningham Jan 30, 2025

The Villa chief told Cope, as relayed by Fabrizio Romano: “João Félix? Unai trusts João’s talent. We were close to getting deal done last summer. These years he’s always been part of our desires. João is a big talent, he needs the right environment… but it’s not an easy deal.”

With that said, those in the Midlands could yet sign an alternative option. According to Romano, Aston Villa have now opened talks to sign Marco Asensio, who would be keen on a move from Paris Saint-Germain this month.

A Champions League winner at Real Madrid, Asensio is a big name playmaker who burst onto the scene only to fail to fulfil his potential quite as expected in Spain, which makes a move reminiscent of Steven Gerrard’s attempts to revive Philippe Coutinho’s career at Villa.

And whilst the Brazilian never hit consistent heights, he still had some special moments at Villa Park in a path that Asensio could now follow.

"Great" Asensio can revive career at Aston Villa

Whether it’s been at Real Madrid or at PSG, Asensio has never truly had the chance to become the main man and now at 29 years old, he’s in danger of leaving the spotlight with a whimper more than anything else. Aston Villa could yet change that and revive the Spaniard, however. A player who’s started just eight times in Ligue 1 this season, Asensio desperately needs a move.

At his best, with all of that winning experience, he is still a player worth taking a gamble on. There’s still the player in there who he helped Real Madrid to three Champions League medals before leaving for PSG.

Earning plenty of praise from Luis Enrique when he was at his best for Spain in 2022, the former national team boss told reporters as relayed by Madrid Universal: “It’s a pleasure too see how our six forwards press, they give is guarantees. Marco is a guarantee and he’s in great form for the World Cup.”

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa set to defend Quaid-e-Azam trophy title

Five of the six first-class teams will have Test players as captains, while a second XI competition will also run concurrently

Umar Farooq26-Sep-2022The Quaid-e-Azam trophy, Pakistan’s premier first-class tournament, is set to start from Tuesday with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) defending their title in the 31-match event.Five other teams – Northern, Central Punjab, Southern Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan – will be taking part in the tournament, which will kick off with three simultaneous games in three of the five venues: Abbottabad, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad. Karachi and Islamabad, which were initially slotted as venues, have been replaced by Multan and Lahore due to logistical challenges. The larger part of the tournament is slotted in the Southern and Central Punjab region with the final scheduled for November 26.Five of the six teams will be led by Test players, the only exception being KP, who will be captained by veteran domestic allrounder Khalid Usman. Hasan Ali has moved from Central Punjab to South Punjab as captain while Azhar Ali will be leading Central. Sarfaraz Ahmed – who last played a Test for Pakistan in 2019 – will take Sindh’s reins. Umar Amin will lead Northern while legspinner Yasir Shah will captain Balochistan. The Cricket Associations Championship, which is a non-first-class red-ball tournament consisting of second-XI players (Grade 2), will commence simultaneously at three different venues within Karachi. The majority of the Associations Championship will be played in Karachi – with UBL complex, NBP sports complex and KCCA stadium the designated venues – and three games are scheduled for Quetta’s Bugti Stadium.ESPNcricinfo LtdRecapping last season
Northern and KP faced each other in the final in December 2021. KP’s 169-run win was fuelled by Iftikhar Ahmed’s hundred. Sindh finished third, despite having the same number of wins, losses, and draws as KP while Central Punjab (fourth) and Southern Punjab (fifth) had two and one wins respectively. Balochistan were winless and finished last.Muhammad Hurraira, who was 19 at the time, became the first player to top the run charts in his debut season. He made history by becoming the second-youngest batter to score a first-class triple century in Pakistan, behind Javed Miandad, who made 311 in the Kardar Summer Shield final, at 17 years and 310 days. Hurraira’s knock was the second triple-hundred of the season, following Ahsan Ali’s 303* for Sindh.Mubasir Khan, the offspinning allrounder, was the player of the tournament. He amassed 458 runs at 32.71 – mainly at No.6 – along with 30 scalps, adding to the run-fest from his brief 2020/21 season where he made 307 runs at 51.16. His exploits earned him a PSL call-up with Islamabad United in the emerging category.Last season was also the season where Pakistan opener Abid Ali, who was batting on 61 for Central Punjab against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, withdrew from the match abruptly due to chest pain. After being taken to hospital, he was diagnosed with a case of Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) and underwent a stenting procedure in his artery. He did return to white-ball cricket after extensive rehab, but the upcoming Quaid-e-Azam will mark his return in the longer format.Left-arm spinner Ali Usman was the leading wicket-taker with 43 dismissals at 27.93 while Sohail Khan (30) and Sameen Gul (31) were the only two pacers to be among the top five leading wicket-takers. Mohammad Ali (32) and Mubasir (30) were other prominent spinners. Rohail Nazir, with 21 catches and ten stumpings, was the wicketkeeper with the most dismissals. He was handy with the bat, too, scoring 198 in 10 games. How is this season different?
The tournament continues to be played on a double-league basis though the arrival of foreign coaches to lead a couple of teams will be worth following. Nottinghamshire assistant coach Paul Franks will be the head coach of Central Punjab while Leicestershire head coach Paul Nixon will take up the same role with Sindh.Bilal Shafayat, who is working with Notts’ age-group levels and second XI, will be assisting Franks as fielding coach for Central Punjab. John Sadler will be Sindh’s fielding coach, while some other names include Richard Stonier (Central Punjab), and Ian Fisher (Sindh), who will help with strength and conditioning. The second XI Cricket Championship will also be played on a double-league basis, across formats. The three-day tournament that used to be played as a pathway to first-class cricket will now extend to a four-day league [though they will not be officially recognised as first-class fixtures.] And just like the T20s and the 50-over tournaments, each side will get a minimum of ten matches.New and improved central contracts
Ahead of the tournament, the PCB has given an increment to the 192 domestic players in their monthly retainers and match fees – across all formats and levels – for the season. As per the new financial model, a player featuring in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy will now get a match fee of PKR 100,000 as opposed to the previous sum of PKR 60,000. Similarly, the match fee for the Cricket Associations Championship has been increased from PKR 25,000 to PKR 40,000.

Ferguson's no-nonsense approach to intruders will come as little surprise to anyone who witnessed his aggressive style of play during his time in the Premier League. The Scot earned a reputation as one of the division's most fearsome competitors and was sent off no fewer than nine times.

WHAT FERGUSON SAID

Ferguson told Stick to Football: "I was lying on the couch because after a game, you can't sleep. Your adrenaline's pumping, we'd played Watford in the FA Cup. I had a funny feeling, these two guys are watching Match of the Day on the television or something, thinking I'm playing there. I think they were stoned or drunk, they must have been. I'm on my couch, it's quarter to one in the morning, I've got my tracksuit bottoms on, no top on, trainers there. I just heard something.

"I went like that, 'I just heard something there', I put my trainers on, they were right there, I was fit as a fiddle, pumped up from the game. I had a conservatory and I could see the two shadows walking through the conservatory. I heard this pounding in my chest. I was pumped up. I was thinking 'what do you do', obviously I was going to go forward, it's fight or flight. The fight one. I went forward and I didn't give the boys a chance, they never knew what hit them. I went after them. That was it, end of really."

He added: "One of them was too quick for me, he got away, but I got the other one. I couldn't get the two of them. One of them ran and left his mate, good pal, eh? Good partner in crime there! I filled him in. I gave him a bad one. I was pumped up, my wife's upstairs with a three-month old baby, she's shouting out of the window, she's hearing 'thud, thud, thud' and 'bang, bang, bang', and she's screaming 'f*cking hell, you're gonna f*cking kill him! Stop!' I had the mist. And you're looking down, and you think 'oh my god'.

"So the two options were phone my mates and drag him away and do whatever you're gonna do, but I thought that's probably not a good move or phone the police! We phoned the police and obviously got an ambulance at the same time."
