It was down to the old firm of Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq to stabilise Pakistan after the top order wobbled again. Khurram Manzoor did make a determined half-century in his comeback series but Mohammad Hafeez had another failure at Test level and Azhar Ali fell early as well, leaving it to the experienced hands to start the repair job at 96 for 3. By stumps, Younis had become the fourth Pakistan batsmen to go past 7000 Test runs on his way to one more fifty, Misbah had dug in for the long haul as usual, and the stand had grown to 67.There was almost an air of inevitability to this familiar partnership, which was saying a lot on a pitch where a batsman was never quite in. The expected deterioration hadn’t happened yet, but there were many deliveries that stayed low. Scoring was difficult through the day but Younis and Misbah were assured, Younis pushing and driving straight, Misbah guiding and nudging square. There was the occasional play-and-miss and lbw appeal, but that could induce no change at all in the men’s temperament or their methods.Manzoor had shown excellent composure till he rushed out for a single to square leg soon after tea and was stranded, Younis’ refusal coming a touch late. The opener had kicked on from an uncertain start to play several aggressive drives with superb timing through point, cover and straight down the ground.Zimbabwe’s fast bowlers came nowhere close to matching the kind of bite Junaid Khan had generated on the first morning. Azhar could have gone fourth ball, when Tendai Chatara hit his pad in front of middle but the appeal was turned down. But he was to fall in similar fashion, trapped leg-before off Tinashe Panyangara for 7.By then, though, Manzoor had got over his early nerves, and Zimbabwe had turned to Hamilton Masakadza, possibly to give their specialist seamers some leeway after the workload they carried in the first Test. However, Brendan Taylor stuck with Masakadza for four overs after Younis came in, allowing the batsman to settle in against harmless, gentle length deliveries outside off.In the morning, Chatara and Vitori also had had few problems settling in, as they batted into the second hour of the day in a last-wicket stand of 46 that stretched the Zimbabwe innings to 294. The hosts began the day on 237 for 8, hoping to make the most of the remaining two wickets with the surface expected to deteriorate significantly later. There was quite some sense on display from Nos 10 and 11 as they defended resolutely and earned precious runs.Pakistan felt they had got Chatara caught behind on 1 when Junaid ripped a lifter past the batsman’s prod. That was about as close as Zimbabwe came to separating the familiar partners.

وأوضحت أن بعض مالكي الأندية قالوا إنهم ليسوا على معرفة بأي شيء يخص صفقة ميسي، ويُقال إنهم محبطون من افتقار الدوري للشفافية.

ومن المتوقع أن يوقع ميسي على عقد لمدة عامين ونصف مع إنتر ميامي مع خيار موسم آخر، وسيحصل على 50-60 مليون دولار سنويًا، وسيتم تمويل الكثير من هذا الراتب بواسطة شركة آبل الشهيرة، الشريك الإعلامي للدوري الأمريكي.

ويُعتقد أن بعض مُلاك الأندية في الدوري الأمريكي قلقون بشكل خاص من الافتقار إلى الشفافية حول كيفية تأثير صفقة ميسي على فرقهم وتمويلهم.

وقال مالك لأحد الأندية الأمريكية: “من الممتع التفكير في كل الطرق التي يمكن أن يغير (ميسي) بها هذا الدوري، ولكن كيف لي أن أعرف ما إذا كانت الصفقة تعجبني عندما لا أعرف ما هو مضمونها؟”.

وأشارت الصحيفة إلى أنه يبدو أن القلق الرئيسي ينبع من الارتباك حول الدور الذي يمكن أن يلعبه ميسي في شراكته الجديدة مع آبل.

وتمتلك الشركة الحق في بث مباريات الدوري الأمريكي في الولايات المتحدة، بعدما وافق الدوري على صفقة مدتها 10 سنوات مع منصة البث مقابل 2.5 مليار دولار.

ويُقال إن ميسي سيحصل على حصة منها، ولكن من غير الواضح بشكل دقيق النسبة التي قد يحصل عليها، وليس من الواضح كذلك ما إذا كانت تلك النسبة ستكون مُقتطعة من جانب آبل أم الدوري الأمريكي.

He was chairman between 1970 and 1974 and president in 1990. He was, at the time of his death, Kent’s oldest capped player.He joined the MCC committee in 1959 and later served on the club’s Cricket and General Purposes committees. He was the club’s president in 1977-78 and the treasurer for six years from 1980.He was manager of the MCC tour of India in 1963/4 and the 1970-71 Ashes tour, where his somewhat old-fashioned attitude did not always endear itself to the players. Ray Illingworth, England’s captain on the tour, described Clark as “an amiable, but somewhat ineffectual man.”Clark also chaired a number of MCC committees, which reviewed the structures of the County Championship and the role of the MCC. The ICC will conduct an “independent, third party” investigation into the statement issued by David Becker, the ICC’s former legal head, which said the BCCI’s flouting of the Future Tour’s Programme could have legal implications, and also into Cricket South Africa CEO Haroon Lorgat’s role in that statement. The ICC decision, first reported by ESPNcricinfo on Monday, was confirmed in a joint statement issued by CSA and the BCCI on Tuesday.Becker, who apart from his ICC role was also formerly a legal advisor to CSA, had said in a statement earlier this month that the FTP was legally binding on ICC members as it had been unanimously approved, and that it was “improper” to allow a member body to “blatantly disregard an ICC resolution”.The release from the South Africa and Indian boards said the investigation panel would be appointed by the ICC, and look into the “content and distribution of the media comments, subsequent attempts to have them withdrawn, and, in particular, the role of Mr Lorgat in relation to these matters”. The findings of the investigation, and the panel’s recommendations, “will be binding upon CSA”.Lorgat will not deal with CSA matters relating to the ICC or the BCCI while the investigation is on. CSA is yet to appoint a person to oversee concerned matters in the interim. Chris Nenzani, chairman of the CSA Board of Directors, confirmed that Lorgat was still CSA’s chief executive.”I would like to stress that Mr. Lorgat has not been suspended,” Nenzani said. “In fact, he himself volunteered to withdraw from matters involving the ICC and the BCCI in his deliberations with the full Board at their meeting last Sunday.”The boards’ release also stated that the ICC is “considering its legal options” with regards to the Becker comments.The news of the independent investigation comes alongside the boards’ announcement that India’s tour of South Africa will go ahead, albeit in a severely truncated form. The decision follows discussions in London, during which “various concerns were raised about the alleged conduct” of Lorgat and Becker. Both the ICC and CSA refute the latter’s comments, the statement said.Although there was no official statement, CSA’s appointment of Lorgat as its chief executive despite a series of run-ins between Lorgat and the BCCI during his tenure as ICC chief seemed to have cast a shadow over India’s tour. The BCCI, which had earlier “raised concerns” about Lorgat being in the running for CSA’s top job, rejected the original itinerary for the tour that had three Tests, seven ODIs and two T20s pencilled in. However, the eventual announcement of the tour ends what has been an uncertain few months that severely tested the relations between the BCCI and CSA, which had been on best terms since the end of apartheid in the early 1990s.

The hype around Aparajith has increased this season, as he has reeled off two doubles and two other hundreds in his previous five first-class matches. With all the other heavyweights of the Tamil Nadu batting dismissed, this was a test as much of Aparajith’s temperament as his technique.He responded with an innings which is unlikely to go down as his most fluent, but showcased his composure in a difficult situation. Though there were plenty of plays-and-misses, and a caught-and-bowled reprieve from Piyush Chawla, he soldiered on to 60 and put on a century stand with Tamil Nadu’s hero of the day, Prasanna.Prasanna has been around on the domestic circuit for nearly a decade without quite making a big name for himself. This was only his second century since December 2006, but like his previous one in the 2011-12 semi-final against Mumbai, it came when his team desperately needed it. He was cautious early on against the quicks, leaving plenty of deliveries, and only opened out when Chawla bowled some erratic legspin.There were doubts about whether he would he would get to his century as Aparajith was dismissed with him still some way away from three figures. The tail stuck around though, and after a few nervy moments, he poked the ball towards point and yelled for the single to bring up his fourth first-class hundred.Still, Tamil Nadu looked set to be bowled out for a score around 200 till teenager Aswin Crist swung his bat around against the second new ball to pick up a bunch of boundaries on a sluggish outfield. They were 216 for 7 when the new ball was taken, as soon as it was available, and then hit 42 off the final 10 overs. Crist got to half-century, and his 79-run unbroken partnership for the eighth wicket with Prasanna took some of the sheen off what was still UP’s day.
