Zimbabwe lifted themselves above Bangladesh’s international stature with the whopping 335-run win in the first Test in Harare. Brendan Taylor’s twin centuries and skillful swing and seam bowling finished off the game inside four days, as Zimbabwe took a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.The game ended when Kyle Jarvis took a magnificent catch at deep fine-leg to give Graeme Cremer his fourth wicket, that of Robiul Islam, to bowl out Bangladesh for just 147. Earlier in the day, Zimbabwe declared their second innings on 227 for 7, setting Bangladesh an improbable 483.Bangladesh, a long-time rival at the bottom of the world rankings, brings out the best in Zimbabwe, who came into this series on the back of five consecutive Test defeats. This time, Zimbabwe were far ahead mentally as they used their familiarity with the conditions in Harare to mighty effect. It was a crushing loss for the visitors who are at the backend of a much better season, and it will set them back a few steps as they head into the second Test in a must-win situation.Taylor made 171 and 102 not out in a Test match that, till date, has been his most prolific. He was almost a one-man show, especially in the second innings when one wrong shot from him could have given Bangladesh a sniff. Zimbabwe were 84 for 6 in the second innings, but Taylor took Graeme Cremer under his wing as they staved off a rampant Robiul Islam.He broke several records on the way too. He became the first Zimbabwe captain to have scored two hundreds in a Test and also has the highest score for a Zimbabwe captain. He also beat his previous best of 117 in the first innings, and added the highest score against Bangladesh under his belt.With the ball, Zimbabwe were led by the impressive Jarvis. It was a complete domination of the Bangladesh batsmen as he, Shingirai Masakadza and Keegan Meth kept the ball up and used excellent lines. Jarvis finished with figures of 7 for 115 in the match, doing justice to the hype around him. Masakadza took five wickets in the game while Meth kept one end quiet as the other two went about knocking the batsmen over.Cremer too played a useful hand with the bat, scoring 42 and 43. These were vital runs, as he added two big seventh-wicket partnerships with Taylor that frustrated Bangladesh greatly. He ended the game with four cheap wickets, capping off a fine all-round display.If Bangladesh’s first-innings collapse of 9 for 32 was bad enough, their second-innings showing was equally poor. Shahriar Nafees’ extra keenness at the start of Test innings cost him yet again. After scoring two consecutive boundaries, he created a big gap between bat and pad, played all over a full delivery from Jarvis and lost his off stump.After the lunch break, Ashraful hardly got out of his self-induced shell as he looked to drag the game for as long as possible. Mahmudullah at the other end went after the bowling, and soon enough, perished. Whether he had seen substitute Sean Williams stationed at deep square-leg cannot be a valid point for a batsman at this level of cricket, but his innocuous pull shot said much about his muddled mindset. His dismissal again triggered a collapse as Shakib Al Hasan and captain Mushfiqur Rahim fell soon after. Similar to the first innings, Shakib was caught at gully but this time he wasn’t fending. He has a unique way of playing a late cut which he guides past gully and point, but this time he couldn’t keep the Jarvis delivery down.Luck too wasn’t on Bangladesh’s side as two of the dismissals showed. Jahurul Islam was given out caught behind when the ball had appeared to flick his shirt on the way to the wicketkeeper Richmond Mutumbami. A prolonged appeal from the slips created enough pressure on the umpire Tony Hill.Mushfiqur was brilliantly caught at second slip by Taylor, who jumped to his right and grabbed it one-handed. The Bangladesh captain’s dismal Test was in far contrast to his opposite number.Mohammad Ashraful’s dim-witted run-out close to the tea break rounded off a forgettable session for the visitors. Cremer spun one past Ashraful’s bat and wicketkeeper Mutumbami’s gloves, but Taylor saved the ball at slip. Ashraful, thinking it had beaten Taylor, went off for a run and was duly run out amid loud laughter among the Zimbabweans, as he wasted another opportunity and the home side basked in the glory of a great performance.

With Lancashire’s Great Glen, the irrepressible captain Chapple, and Hampshire’s soon to depart Australian import, George Bailey, having taken turns to sparkle under an oh so welcome sun, this game is not quite ready to be written off as a watery draw.Stalemate remains the likeliest outcome, a hardly surprising conclusion given that 88 overs were lost to the weather across the first two days. But whatever the result on the final day, there have been three or four individual performances to take away and treasure.At 39, Chapple is clearly nearing the end of a wonderful career with Lancashire. He cannot, however, have enjoyed many patches more purple than the one which threatened to shatter Hampshire here shortly after lunch.The game was proceeding along quite gently when Chapple suddenly found the reverse swing he had been seeking. The bare statistic of what followed is that he captured four wickets in the space of six deliveries, spread across two overs, but those figures do not begin to do justice to what occurred.Shielding the ball in his hands so that the home batsmen could gain no clue about what was coming next, he swung it both ways to viciously good effect.James Vince was well caught, low down at second slip, by Lancashire’s first innings hero, Andrea Agathangelou. Then, a couple of deliveries later, left-hander Sean Ervine shouldered arms to what he thought was an outswinger, only to have his off stump clipped.The two best balls, though, were saved for youngsters Michael Bates and Chris Wood at the start of Chapple’s next over. Both were of near yorker length, both swerved in late and fast and if either batsman had kept them out it would not have been far short of a miracle.Suddenly, Hampshire were 144 for 7, and they might have struggled to make 160 had Bailey, on 29, been held by a diving Stephen Moore at square leg following an uppish clip against Wayne White. Instead, the chance went to ground, the ball stopped doing precisely as Chapple commanded and the hosts were able to hit back strongly.Chapple was not to be denied the 37th five-for of his career (and his first against Hampshire) with David Balcombe chipping to midwicket. But he did have to go without a 900th first-class victim (for another day, at least) because keeper Gareth Cross was unable to pouch a diving catch when Bailey edged on 42.Even at that stage, though, the magic bubble had been burst with Danny Briggs, at No. 10, looking cool and comfortable in support of the home team’s last front-line batsman.Bailey is set to join Australia’s Champions Trophy squad after this match and it seems unclear whether he will return later in the summer. If not, he may well have ended a six-week stay as he began it – by narrowly missing out on a maiden Championship century.Against Leicestershire, on debut, Bailey batted beautifully throughout to reach 93. This time he had a couple of escapes but there was also some splendidly clean hitting and fierce counter-attacking – just as one would expect from an international T20 captain.A dozen fours and a straight six, off Kyle Hogg, took Bailey into the 80s before a mistimed drive into the covers ended his hopes of a hundred. Still, from looking in trouble, Hampshire had been piloted back to within touching distance of their visitors – a position which James Tomlinson and Balcombe reinforced by making three strikes against Lancashire’s top order.

Contra Jardine pesa, claro, a eliminação precoce da Copa Libertadores, a postura do time dentro de campo e a ausência de um padrão tático. DE SAÍDA?

Marcelo vive um de seus piores momentos desde que chegou ao Real Madrid. Criticado pela torcida e imprensa, e reserva em boa parta dos jogos, o lateral pode deixar o clube na próxima janela. Segundo a rádio espanhola Cope, o brasileiro se reuniu, na última segunda, com a diretoria do clube merengue para expor seu descontentamento.

Ainda de acordo com a rádio, a reunião durou cerca de uma hora e Marcelo fez questão de transmitir seu mal-estar com as críticas que vem sofrendo e disse que se o panorama não melhorar vai deixar no fim do ano. A imprensa europeia especula que um dos clubes que pode ser o novo destino do lateral é a Juventus, de Cristiano Ronaldo.

O TROCO

Em meio à má fase de dois de seus principais jogadores, Juventus e Internazionale trocaram farpas através de seus dirigentes por conta de Dybala e Icardi. Os Nerazzurri não gostaram do interesse da Juve em seu atacante, por conta de todo momento turbulento de Icardi com a equipe, e respondeu ao interesse dizendo que, se fosse assim, poderiam negociar com Dybala.

VOZÃO INSISTE

Ainda sem engrenar em seu retorno ao Botafogo, Leandro Carvalho segue sendo monitorado de perto pelo Ceará, que ofereceu uma proposta para contar com o atacante em definitivo. O clube carioca, no entanto, rejeitou pelas condições, porém pode ser flexível quanto a um novo empréstimo.

O atacante Jael foi apresentado nesta terça-feira pelo FC Tokyo. A sua saída do Grêmio e a chegada ao Japão ocorreram de forma muito rápida. É a terceira vez que Jael atua no futebol asiático. O atacante jogou pelo Seongnam IC, da Coreia do Sul, em 2012, e no Chongqing Lifan, da China, em 2015.

COM UM PÉ NO REAL

Só falta assinar! Assim o jornal “Marca” está tratando a negociação entre Real Madrid e Éder Militão, do Porto. O periódico apontou que os Merengues estão à frente dos concorrentes para a contratação do jogador, de 21 anos.

A publicação diz ainda que o Real Madrid já acertou todos os detalhes com Militão. O clube planeja pagar a multa rescisória prevista no contrato do jogador com o Porto, no valor de 50 milhões de euros (R$ 215 milhões).

DE VOLTA AO BRASIL?

A situação envolvendo o atacante argentino Ricardo Centurión e o técnico Eduardo Coudet atraiu os olhares do Athletico Paranaense para a possibilidade de contar com o jogador visando à sequência da temporada.

Se antes o atleta de 26 anos era quase indispensável no elenco do Racing (ARG), com a briga entre jogador e treinador, Centurión foi afastado e a tendência é de que ele seja negociado em breve. O Furacão foi apontado como interessado no jogador pelo diário argentino “Olé”.

REFORÇO PARA A LATERAL

Ainda de olho no mercado para a temporada 2019, o Fluminense tem uma reunião marcada ainda para esta semana com representantes do lateral-direito Aderlan, que está atualmente no Red Bull Brasil e disputou o último Campeonato Brasileiro pelo América-MG. As conversas entre as duas partes ainda são bem iniciais.

O nome de Aderlan não chega a ser novidade no clube das Laranjeiras. No fim do ano passado, ele esteve em pauta e tinha o aval do então técnico Marcelo Oliveira. À época, segundo apuração do LANCE!, o Tricolor ofereceria um contrato de dois anos.

PACOTE DO BARCELONA?

O diretor de futebol Alexandre Mattos está na Europa e pode voltar ao Brasil com dois jogadores vindos das categorias de base do Palmeiras negociados. Ainda não há nenhuma proposta oficial, mas o Barcelona pretende oferecer 20 milhões de euros (R$ 84,31 milhões na cotação atual) pelo zagueiro Vitão e o lateral-esquerdo Luan Cândido.

Nessa segunda-feira, o jornal Marca, da Espanha, já tinha relatado que Vitão está próximo do clube catalão. Agora, o portal Goal informou que Luan Cândido entraria no pacote. BUSCA POR REFORÇOS

A carência no setor ofensivo do Botafogo não é novidade para ninguém. Com a recente saída de Rodrigo Aguirre, o time de Zé Ricardo conta apenas com Kieza como centroavante atualmente, tendo em vista que o jovem Igor Cássio se recupera de uma lesão muscular. E não é por falta de nomes na mesa que mais atacantes estão deixando de serem anunciados para 2019.

O Shakhtar Donetsk anunciou nesta terça-feira a contratação do meia Marcos Antonio, de 18 anos. O jogador já vinha treinando no clube e assinou contrato de cinco temporadas.

Marcos Antonio atuou na primeira metade da temporada pelo Estoril, de Portugal. O jovem foi revelado pelo Athletico Paranaense e vai utilizar a camisa 88 na equipe ucraniana.

Dhawal Kulkarni found himself in a strange place on Monday night. Against Kings XI Punjab on Monday, with 17 needed to win, the Mumbai Indians bowler conceded 12 runs in an eight-ball final over, which included a wide and a no-ball. Two nights before the match against Kings XI, Kulkarni had bowled a match-winning, three-wicket spell at the same venue, with the wickets of Tillekaratne Dilshan, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers to his name, but the manner in which he bowled the final over against Kings XI turned from a hero to its antithesis.Six deliveries in the eight-ball over – and what should have been a nine-ball over when square-leg umpire Asad Rauf failed to notice a full toss above waist height – were full tosses. Such was the angst against Kulkarni that a reporter asked Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma how “Dhawal Kulkarni did everything he could to lose the match”. But Rohit stood firmly behind his team-mate.”Dew takes a lot of things out of equation,” Rohit said. “Spinners find it very hard to turn the ball. Bowlers, in general, find it difficult to grip the ball. As far as Dhawal is concerned, you can’t be so aggressive. It’s just that anybody can have a bad game. Yet after being on the tour with the Indian team to New Zealand in 2009, Kulkarni has stayed in the wilderness and is yet to be offered a central contract.One of Kulkarni’s main drawbacks, after returning from the tour in New Zealand in 2009, was said to be lack of genuine pace. Over the last four years, though, he has improved on his physique and fitness and it has reflected on his pace as well. “He’s an absolute gym man,” Rohit said. “He likes to work out, he likes to be fit. I know that he bowled [at] about 140[kph], so it shows that he has been really working hard.”Captain of the Mumbai Indians for the last three matches, Rohit reiterated that Kulkarni’s performance in his two IPL matches so matches had been remarkable for a player who had spent a month on the bench.”It’s very tough for any player, not just Dhawal,” he said. ” [The poor guy was benched for the last six-seven games]. Yet, he bowled a match-winning spell in the last game. On Monday, he defended 17 runs under pressure in the last over.””It’s not easy for a guy sitting out to come in with all of us expecting a huge performance from him. Glamorgan’s fifth-wicket pair staged a restorative stand of 185 in 50 overs as the visitors recovered from 85 for 4 to reach 318 for 5 by the close afterbeing put in to bat by Gloucestershire skipper Michael Klinger.That decision appeared a good one when Craig Miles and David Payne took two wickets each with the new ball, but Allenby and Goodwin redressed the balance to help Glamorgan bank three batting bonus points with the prospect of more to come on the second day.Fresh from scoring a career-best 138 not out in his last innings against Leicestershire at Grace Road, Allenby raised his second hundred inside a week to alter the complexion of the game. He eventually succumbed to the second new ball, pinned lbw on the front foot by James Fuller having mustered 105 runs from 159 balls in a forthright knock that included 16 fours.Goodwin and Allenby fell just short of Glamorgan’s record fifth-wicket stand in matches against Gloucestershire, established by Michael Powell and James Franklin at Cheltenham in 2006. Rather more circumspect in his approach, Goodwin was still there at stumps, having chiselled an unbeaten 96 from 212 balls with 12 fours and added a further 48 runs with Mark Wallace for the sixth wicket.Klinger’s decision to insert Glamorgan raised a few eyebrows among County Ground regulars, but the tactic paid dividends initially as Gloucestershire’s seam bowlers made the most of early moisture to rip through the top order.Miles continued his rich vein of form when accounting for openers Ben Wrightand William Bragg in successive overs after being switched to the Ashley Down Road end. Having already claimed 20 first-class wickets at an average of 20.55 in four previous outings this season, the 18-year-old Academy product further pressed his claims for an England Under-19 call up on a flat County Ground pitch.Offering his team-mates an object lesson in line and length, Miles induced Wright to prod defensively at a ball outside off stump and offer a regulation catch to Gareth Roderick behind the stumps. Bragg succumbed in Miles’ next over, pushing tentatively outside off stump and directing a thickish edge to Dan Housego in the gully for 23.Payne’s left-arm swing ensured the home side made further in-roads while the shine was still on the ball, former Gloucestershire overseas batsman Marcus North and Stewart Walters departing either side of the lunch interval.Australian North was squared up by a ball that came back into him and was caught at the wicket having contributed just four runs, while the aggressive Walters fell to a poor shot. O duelo

O primeiro tempo foi morno. Apesar de ir com os titulares, o Internacional pouco apresentou. O jogo não fluía e o goleiro Fabiano não era incomodado.

Do outro lado, o Avenida era tímido nas descidas. Com dificuldade na criação, o time da casa explorava as jogadas de lado e por pouco não abriu o marcador com Tito. O atacante deixou Cuesta para trás e soltou a bomba. Bem colocado, Marcelo Lomba salvou.

Nos minutos finais o Inter teve a grande chance para abrir o placar. Em lance duvidoso, Claudinho tocou em Zeca na grande área e o árbitro apontou para a marca da cal. Na cobrança, Neilton bateu e Fabiano pegou.

Na etapa final a postura do Internacional mudou. Ligado no ataque, o Colorado deu trabalho ao adversário e criou boas chances para tirar o zero do marcador.

Mais acionado pelos companheiros, Pedro Lucas começou a aparecer e criou duas oportunidades. Na primeira, ele desviou o cruzamento e tirou tinta da trave. Na segunda, o atacante soltou a bomba e parou no goleiro Fabiano.
