أقام النادي الأهلي ظهر اليوم حفلًا لتوقيع عقود استضافة بطولتي إفريقيا للأندية أبطال الكؤوس لكرة اليد رقم 39 “رجال وسيدات” وبطولة كأس السوبر الإفريقي لكرة اليد رقم 30 “رجال وسيدات” خلال شهر مايو المقبل.

وحضر الاحتفال محمود الخطيب، رئيس النادي، ومنصورو أريمو، رئيس الاتحاد الإفريقي لكرة اليد، ومحمد الأمين رئيس الاتحاد المصري لكرة اليد، والعامري فاروق، نائب رئيس النادي، وخالد مرتجى أمين الصندوق، ومحمد شوقي وطارق قنديل عضوا مجلس الإدارة، وخالد العوضي مدير النشاط الرياضي.

وقال أريمو في تصريحات صحفية اليوم الخميس: “نحن اليوم متواجدون داخل النادي الأهلي لتوقيع اتفاقية بطولتي إفريقيا للأندية أبطال الكؤوس وكأس السوبر الإفريقي، ونحن على ثقة كاملة في قدرة وإمكانات الأهلي على التنظيم وخروج البطولتين بالشكل اللائق والمتوقع، والذي تعودنا عليه من الأهلي والدولة المصرية بشكل عام”.

وأضاف: “المشاركة مع أندية بحجم النادي الأهلي أمر يسعدنا دائمًا، وإنه لمن دواعي سروري أن أكون متواجدًا اليوم والتقي محمود الخطيب رئيس النادي، الذي حقق طفرة كبيرة داخل الأهلي بفضل خبراته وخبرات مجلس الإدارة”.

وأكد رئيس الاتحاد الإفريقي لكرة اليد أن الحكومة المصرية دائمًا ما توفر الإمكانات لنجاح أي بطولة تقام داخل مصر، وأنه سيكون هناك تضافر من كافة الجهات، سواء من وزارة الشباب والرياضية أو الحكومة المصرية بشكل عام لتوفر الأجواء المناسبة للوفود المشاركة.

وأضاف: “نثق في كفاءة وقدرة الأهلي ومصر على تنظيم البطولتين والعمل الدؤوب لتقديم أفضل مستوى، وبما يضمن النجاح للبطولتين، كما هو معتاد في أي بطولة يتم تنظيمها داخل مصر وتسند إلى مسئولي النادي الأحمر”.

وواصل رئيس الاتحاد الإفريقي لكرة اليد حديثه: “صديقي محمود الخطيب تحدث في كل شيء خاص بالبطولتين، نحن متواجدون اليوم لإنهاء الشكل الإجرائي من خلال توقيع العقود”.

وعقب توقيع العقود قام الخطيب بإهداء درع وعلم النادي وقميص فريق كرة اليد إلى رئيس الاتحاد الإفريقي، وأيضاً قام بإهداء درع وعلم النادي وقميص فريق اليد إلى رئيس الاتحاد المصري.

It was a flat wicket and for him to come in and bowl so much and so consistently was what we’ve really been looking for from Tim. He could have easily taken five or six wickets the way he bowled. He batted well in the first innings too, so it was a pretty good Test match and those are the performances that we expect of him, particularly with his talent.”Reece Young too, received plaudits from his captain on debut, after a tidy performance behind the stumps. “He looked composed with the gloves and with the bat. He’ll obviously want to go on with the bat and get some runs, but I thought he looked pretty good.”Vettori allayed fears about his own health, stating that he expects to make a full recovery after he had been ill on day two, seeming sapped of energy in the outfield. There were also reports that he had undergone blood tests for various diseases. “I feel a lot better today, all my results have come back clear. I need a couple of days’ rest but I’ll be alright for the Basin Reserve.”

His personality can be even bigger: the larger than life leader of South African cricket for the last eight years, who will bat with a broken hand and will bounce back, bullish as ever, after a broken heart. Add to that the meaty guffaw and booming voice, and you have a massive character. But, on Friday night, in his last game as captain of the one-day team, he looked a small, small man indeed.His gestures, usually open and friendly, were limp. His smile, usually broad, was absent. His frown, usually menacing, had been wiped off, and his eyes, usually alive, were empty. This was a man who was gutted. At the beginning of his post-match press conference, it was almost as though he was battling to speak. Each word was laboured, each breath was long. He had, perhaps a little too literally, been stunned.”It’s hard to describe [how we feel] at such short notice. It’s kind of disbelief; I felt that we certainly had what it took to win,” Smith said. Few will disagree. South Africa were the team that was talked up as the most balanced unit in this tournament. They had a plethora of options, particularly in the bowling department. It was in that discipline that South Africa shone in the group stages, as the only team to take sixty wickets in six matches.Their quarter-final was the first match of the tournament in which they did not bowl out the opposition.
