Sri Lankan opener Tillakaratne Dilshan feels that Sri Lanka will be able to exert pressure on India if they score over 550 in the first innings on the placid SSC wicket. The hosts ended the opening day on a strong 312 for 2, with Tharanga Paranavitana and Kumar Sangakkara tormenting India with centuries yet again.”The second day is the best day to bat on the SSC pitch and we have our two most experienced batsmen at the crease – Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene,” Dilshan said. “If we score over 550 on this wicket we can put pressure on India and get a decision in our favour.”It is a superb wicket to bat on and I am disappointed I got out for 54. Tharanga and Sanga (Sangakkara) batted without taking any risks. We didn’t experience any problem batting on this wicket. After the first 3-4 overs the wicket favoured the batsmen. It is not an easy wicket for the fast bowlers.”Dilshan and Paranavitana shared an attacking opening stand of 99 in 18.1 overs after winning the toss to set Sri Lanka to a big score. Dilshan, who was out trying to force the pace off left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha by giving a catch to short extra cover, said he had no plan to change his approach to batting.”I don’t plan to change the way I am playing now. I have scored 11 Test centuries batting in this manner. This is my seventh Test as an opener and I am averaging 63 (sic. 67). This is the way I bat but sometimes I think if I can slow myself down a little bit it would be better,” he said.Commenting on the match, Dilshan was confident that by the third and fourth days the two spinners, Ajantha Menis and Suraj Randiv, will come in to play.”We have confidence in the two quicks Dammika Prasad and Dilhara Fernando. They can bowl more than 140-plus (kph) and they can get some bounce and pace off this wicket. By the third and fourth days I am sure the spinners should do the job for us. We have confidence in these four bowlers,” Dilshan said.”It’s a big loss without Lasith [Malinga] who took seven wickets in the last Test, but Dilhara and Prasad have got an opportunity to cement their places in the team. I hope they make use of that advantage.”

– Tem uma ansiedade, porque, além de locutora, sou corintiana também. Então gera uma expectativa. Fora o trabalho, que é sempre bom estar junto ao time e à torcida de novo – afirmou Chris.

– Todo dia de jogo dá um friozinho na barriga, porque gosto de fazer o que faço. Ainda mais quando é jogo é importante, que daí dá esse frio na barriga pelo trabalho e pelo jogo – acrescentou.

Chris virou a locutora da Arena ainda em 2014, cerca de seis meses depois da inauguração do estádio. Atualmente radialista e dona de uma produtora, ela contou como começou a trabalhar na casa corintiana.

– Eu trabalhei na Web Rádio Coringão em 2010 e 2011, acabei pegando gosto pelo futebol e conheci bastante gente. Daí surgiu o teste para ser locutora da Arena em 2014. Não pensava que eu seria escolhida, até porque é difícil um teste assim, mas confiava no meu trabalho. Eu era a única mulher entre umas 16 pessoas no teste. Quando passei, foi uma coisa maravilhosa. Nunca tinha feito locução assim no estádio – disse.

Após mais de três anos sendo a locutora da Arena, Chris quer cansar de anunciar autores de gols do Timão em 2018. Antes da estreia no estádio nesta temporada, o pedido dela é o mesmo de toda a Fiel: “vai, Corinthians!”

He will stay on as Test captain and is available for selection in all three formats. Smith announced his decision at a press conference in Johannesburg on Wednesday.”There are several reasons why I have made this important career decision,” Smith said. “I am going into my ninth season of international cricket – eight of which have been as captain. It is my intention to play for another five or six years and I know in my heart that I can only do that if I give up some of my current responsibilities.”Longevity was one of the main things on Smith’s mind during the South African off season, during which he, “set some challenging personal goals for the future.” He would only share a few of those aims, one of which is to “be around for much longer as a player,” and the other, to win a World Cup.Smith led South Africa in the 2007 edition of the ODI World Cup and in three World Twenty20s. The team failed to reach the final of any of those events, although they reached the semi-final stage twice. Speculation was rife that he would step down in May this year, after South Africa finished bottom of their Super Eights group at the World T20 in the Caribbean.The pressure of filling a barren trophy cabinet was expected to become too much and Smith fuelled the fire himself when he posted a cryptic message on Twitter on July 20. “Captaining South Africa is an honour and a privilege! And I’m so lucky to have had the opportunity. Thank you all for your support.” He confirmed that the idea of stepping down was “going through my head for a while,” but he did not isolate that tournament as the reason for this decision.The team’s Caribbean crusade was also the first full series Smith completed in 2010, after a string of arm and hand injuries forced him out of limited overs matches, such as during the India tour. Smith refused to comment on who he thought should take over but he did say that he would be willing to work with whoever was selected. Just like Shaun Pollock, who played under Smith after being stripped of the captaincy, Smith said he will play under a new captain without interfering. “I think it’s very important to allow a person to find his feet and grow. I would like to add value because I think a senior player’s role is a crucial one. I took over at a young age and Polly still played in the team and we were able to form a good relationship, so I learnt from a good man.”He has already demonstrated his ability to play under someone else. During the IPL, Smith played for the Rajasthan Royals under Shane Warne with much success. Smith’s stepping down from the captaincy role in Twenty20s in unlikely to have an impact on, or be connected to, his appearance in the cash-rich league, but Smith left the door open for any possibility. “I don’t know (about the IPL). We don’t know what’s going to happen with the IPL in future, but all I’ll say is that I am committed to South Africa.”

They were beaten by Warriors in their opening game but not before overcoming a horrid start with the bat and creating several chances in the field.
