A ordem é falar o menos possível e focar no trabalho.

Celtic: Hoops interested in Marco Bizot

Celtic want to sign Brest goalkeeper Marco Bizot during the January transfer window, according to French outlet Homme du Match.

The lowdown

The 30-year-old, who has been capped by Netherlands, only joined Brest from Eredivisie outfit AZ Alkmaar last summer in a £4.5m deal.

He has started all of their Ligue 1 matches so far, but boasts the second poorest shot-stopping record in the division. The Dutchman has conceded 4.8 goals more than his xG concession rate (via FBRef).

Indeed, Celtic have strengthened their goalkeeping ranks in recent months with the acquisition of Joe Hart, who has been Ange Postecoglou’s first choice in the role.

The latest

The report from Homme du Match stated that Bizot could make a swift exit from his new club, with Celtic lining up a January move.

The Hoops would like to sign the 1.93m (6 foot 4) goalkeeper on loan, but Brest will have ‘no interest’ in such a proposal unless it includes an obligation to buy in the summer.

The verdict

Perhaps the idea would be for Bizot to come in and apply pressure to Hart, keeping him on his toes. However, Celtic are already fairly well-stocked in the goalkeeping department, with Scott Bain, Conor Hazard and Vasilis Barkas all supporting Hart.

When you also consider the Dutchman’s alarmingly poor form in Ligue 1, it doesn’t seem like it would be the most prudent investment.

If they can avoid an obligation to buy, they could take him on a trial basis, which wouldn’t represent any great risk. Otherwise, though, Celtic should forget this one.

Three players given reprimands

Scott Newman, Ed Joyce and Kyle Hogg have received reprimands under the ECB’s discipline code

Cricinfo staff27-Aug-2009Scott Newman, Ed Joyce and Kyle Hogg have received reprimands under the ECB’s discipline code.Newman, currently on loan with Nottinghamshire, was reported by umpires Richard Illingworth and Peter Hartley for a level one breach which covers abuse of cricket ground, equipment or fixtures and fittings when he swiped at his stumps following his dismissal against Sussex. From the same match Joyce was also reported for showing dissent.Hogg’s reprimand comes following an incident in Lancashire’s Pro40 match against Leicestershire on August 23 when he was reported by Peter Willey and Mark Benson for a level one breach of the code. The reprimands remain on the players’ record for two years and any further level one breach during that period will result in an automatic imposition of three penalty points.

Bopara's hopes fade as he fails again

Ravi Bopara’s hopes of clinging to his Test place for the final Ashes encounter at The Oval faded further as he fell for 1 against Middlesex at Lord’s

Ravi Bopara’s hopes of clinging to his Test place for the final Ashes encounter at The Oval faded further as he fell for 1 against Middlesex at Lord’s. Faced with a tricky 10 minute session before lunch on the second day, following a failure for England team-mate Alastair Cook, he couldn’t survive the session when he fenced outside off and offered a catch to second slip from his seventh ball. After spending the opening day in the field as Middlesex batted in sunshine, Bopara would have hoped for something similar when his turn came. Instead, the second morning was overcast and the ball swung, then to make matters worse he had that mini-session which top-order batsmen hate before a break. He nearly fell to his first delivery when he risked a single into the covers and Nick Compton couldn’t collect the ball cleanly. But the reprieve was short-lived when Tim Murtagh, who found movement with the new ball to take the four wickets to fall, got one to bounce a little and Bopara met it with an indeterminate poke. It was a dismissal straight out of the Ben Hilfenhaus notebook.James Whitaker, the England selector, was in attendance to witness Bopara’s latest failure to go alongside the 1 and 0 the No. 3 made at Headingley, which took his Ashes tally to 105 runs in four Tests. A score in this game appeared to be his last chance of salvation with the calls for change ringing in the selectors’ ears.Although Geoff Miller told Cricinfo that changes won’t be made just for the sake of it, Bopara has endured such a tortured period that it seems inconceivable he will bat at first drop next week. Runs here may only have clouded the issue and Alec Stewart, who averaged 43.56 in 20 Tests at No.3, said the break might be what Bopara needs.”Very few people come into a Test side and don’t get left out at some stage,” Stewart said. “In a way it can do you a little bit of good. You go back, you reassess, you learn what international cricket is about and then you come back a better and stronger player for it. If he is to be left out, it wouldn’t surprise me.”Even when he was getting his Test hundreds against the West Indies I said that he should have started off his career at No. 5 or 6. I see him as a middle order player at the moment with the ability to go up to No. 3,” he added. “Ravi will be a wonderful international cricketer. It’s tough playing against any international side. You’re playing against the very best and this is the first little hiccup of his career. If – and I underline the word if – he is left out, then he will go back to Essex and score his runs.”It was a miserable day for both Essex’s England batsmen. Cook was trapped half forward by one that swung back from Murtagh and departed for 4. Although his situation is not as dire as Bopara’s, Cook hasn’t set the world alight either in the Ashes barring his 95 at Lord’s. He top-scored with 30 in the first-innings demise at Headingley and made another 30 in the second dig, but being one of the senior batsmen in a struggling line-up he needs to pull his weight more. The Australia quicks have probed away outside off stump and exposed Cook’s technical flaws. He was twice dismissed pushing at swinging deliveries at Leeds having been pinned leg before three times earlier in the series. The double failure of the England players meant Essex went to lunch in trouble on 15 for 2 in reply to Middlesex’s 356. Gareth Berg’s 66, his third half century in three innings, had boosted the lower order before the final-wicket pair of Steven Finn and Alan Richardson secured a fourth batting point. The visitors’ position didn’t improve as Murtagh posed plenty of problems from the Nursery End. He made the ball shape away at John Maunders to take the outside edge to first slip and pinned Mark Pettini lbw when the Essex captain was caught on the crease. It was the basics of swing bowling, pitching the ball up on a good length – something else that England lacked at Headingley. For a while it looked like Bopara would get a second hit in the day.A break for rain meant Murtagh had time to recharge his batteries and kept going for 13-over spell up to tea. However, the Essex line-up found some resistance in the form of Matt Walker and James Foster to begin the rebuilding job after the failure of their Test pair.Foster was the aggressor post tea as he punched strongly off the back foot through the off side, while Walker watchfully negotiated the movement which noticeably diminished after the rain. Their stand had reached 75 when bad light, then heavy rain, forced an early close.

Everton transfer news on Pepe

Many Everton fans have been left raging as some transfer news emerged on Nicolas Pepe.

As per Jeunes Footeux, the Goodison Park faithful, as well as both Newcastle United and Crystal Palace, are now interested in signing the Arsenal winger in the January transfer window, who are ready to cut their losses.

The deal with the Gunners would be a loan with an option to buy in the summer, which is one that they would likely accept.

For a player that cost a club record transfer fee of £72m, Pepe has flattered to deceive so far in a red and white shirt, with no goals and just one assist in seven games in the Premier League this season, and a total of 43 goal contributions in 98 matches over all competitions (Transfermarkt).

With the arrivals of Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend in the summer, one should question whether the Merseyside club should be looking to bring Pepe in as well, when any money that they have available should perhaps be spent on strengthening other areas of the squad, such as right-back.

Everton fans on Pepe transfer news

These Toffees supporters raged as the transfer news was shared on Twitter, with one claiming that he is ‘another Iwobi’, who arrived from Arsenal and has not scored for the Blues yet this season, and one EFC supporter even went as far as to call it ‘dreadful’:

Panthers ride high on Pandey century

A round-up of the sixth day of the KPL Cup

Cricinfo staff14-Sep-2009

Manish Pandey scored 112 out of Panthers’ total of 201•ESPNcricinfo Ltd

Manish Pandey blitzed 112 to help Belagavi Panthers continue their successful form with a 13-run win against Mangalore United in a high-scoring contest. Pandey was in an unforgiving mood and it turned out to be one-way traffic for Panthers once opener J Arun Kumar departed. Pandey’s second-wicket stand of 160 with Shyam Ponnappa looked to have effectively ended Mangalore’s hopes, as the two tore into the opposition bowling to take Belagavi to a mammoth 201.Pandey smashed 14 fours and four sixes during his 62-ball unbeaten innings, while Ponnappa contributed a whirlwind 72, which included two fours and six sixes. It was a sorry bowling card for Mangalore, with Azghar Pasha conceding 15.66 per over. However, Mangalore’s response was strong, with wicketkeeper RK Sabharwal leading the charge. He compiled 51 off 31 balls, hitting seven fours and two sixes, and was involved in key partnerships to keep Mangalore in the hunt. But two crucial strikes from Ramling Patil pegged them back before Zeshan Syed accounted for two more middle-order batsmen. Udit Patel scored a brave 38 but it was not enough to save Mangalore from their third defeat.Bangalore Provident (Rural) recovered from their defeat against Bangalore Brigadiers to beat Bijapur Bulls by six wickets in a closely-fought contest. Bangalore Provident’s chase was built on a 118-run second-wicket stand between Thilak Naidu and Amit Verma and they reached home with four balls to spare. After choosing to bat, Bijapur were buoyed by Gaurav Dhiman’s fiery 57 at the top of the order. Having hit seven fours and three sixes during his 35-ball innings, he passed the baton on to Sudhindra Shinde. Shinde was largely responsible for Bijapur’s emphatic late charge, smashing five fours and a six to get to 61 off 42 balls, with Bangalore Provident captain Balachandra Akhil and his seamers failing to keep them below the 160-mark.The departure of opener Maniunath Manjunath for a duck in the very first over did not bode well for Bangalore Provident but Naidu and Verma ensured there would be no more hiccups for a long time. While Verma missed a deserved half-century by a run, having hit five boundaries, Naidu finished with a breezy 63, comprising seven fours and a six. It was perhaps a little too late for Jayprakash Shetty (3 for 25), who dismissed them both, as Sunil Kumar Jain then took Bangalore Provident over the line.

West Ham fans flock to En-Nesyri claim

Flocking to Twitter, many West Ham United fans have reacted to a transfer claim involving Sevilla striker and long-time target Youssef En-Nesyri.

The Morocco international is a name who will be familiar to most Irons supporters given their club’s association with him over the past year.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/west-ham-developments-2/” title=”West Ham developments” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

West Ham manager David Moyes even confirmed last winter that an offer had been tabled to sign En-Nesyri as he scoured the market for a much-needed striking addition.

Fast forward nearly 12 months and the Hammers are still in a position where they arguably need a centre-forward alternative to Michail Antonio, especially considering his concerning injury record.

Bringing an update as new recruitment chief Rob Newman is tasked with orchestrating West Ham’s transfer dealings, Fichajes have some news involving En-Nesyri.

The Spanish source lists West Ham as one of three clubs who ‘will go’ for the 24-year-old alongside Premier League giants Manchester City and Manchester United.

They claimed that the Hammers and Newman could even swoop in January, citing the lack of depth alongside Antonio further forward as a real motivator.

West Ham fans react…

Taking to social media, some Irons supporters were fairly mixed in their reaction, with some relishing the prospect of his signing while others contest it.

Given his phenomenal goal haul of 24 in all competitions last season and 53 since making his senior debut in 2016/17 (Transfermarkt), you can see why a handful of fans believe he would be perfect for West Ham.

However, some also feel that their club could secure much better value-for-money moves in swoops for fellow targets like Andrea Belotti or Adam Hlozek, especially considering that En-Nesyri is rated near the £40m mark.

Check out some of their verdicts below:

“Way too expensive, considering Belotti and Hlozek would be cheaper combined and better imo”

Credit: @arnaud_vs_

“£40m would be too much in my opinion! I really like En-Nesyri, but I think you could get Cabral or Barrow & Lingard with change left over to put toward a CB at that price!”

Credit: @WhufcSloth

“En-Nesyri is quality and a lot better player than Belotti, can’t really comment on Hlozek as I’ve only seen him play a couple of times (but tbh wasn’t that impressed although he is still young).”
