Leeds could land a perfect midfield partner for Kalvin Phillips in Udinese’s Rodrigo de Paul.

What’s the story?

Reports last summer suggested that Marcelo Bielsa’s wanted to lure the Argentina international to Elland Road, and it was even recently suggested by The Athletic’s Phil Hay that the midfielder wants to join the Premier League club.

Football Insider have now revealed that the Whites are prepared to pay a club-record fee to sign De Paul in the upcoming transfer window and have made him one of their top targets.

The 1.8m-tall (5 foot 11) ace has been described by his former manager Julio Velazquez as someone who “lacks absolutely nothing”, and the £34.2m-rated box-to-box midfielder has backed up those words this season by scoring eight goals and providing a further nine assists in just 33 games.

When you look at the kind of player that he is, you can see why Bielsa is so keen to bring him to Elland Road, and why he could be a perfect partner for Phillips in the engine room.

Speaking to Yorkshire Evening Post, Smarterscout’s Dan Altman said: “There aren’t any central midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues who can match Rodrigo de Paul’s style of play and his pitch coverage.

“He’s most active in the right channel, crossing midfield, but he can pop up almost anywhere. He’s an avid defender, and his attacking contribution is huge at a Premier League standard. He’s Argentine and has enormous output on both sides of the ball, so he seems like a great fit for Bielsa’s Leeds.”

With that ability to break the lines with his running and movement, De Paul could offer a goalscoring touch from midfield which has eluded Leeds this season in the Premier League – Mateusz Klich is their top-scoring central midfielder with just two goals.

The Argentine would offer Phillips a runner to hit with his fine range of passing, and allow the England international to sit slightly deeper and dictate the play like he usually does.

Described as an “avid defender”, De Paul could join Phillips in making it an absolute nightmare for opposition midfielders to try and get time on the ball to try and play, and the duo could play a huge role in winning it back as quickly as possible if they end up playing together for the Whites.

It’s no surprise that Leeds are once again interested in signing him.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin may have become the first Everton player since 2017 to score 20 goals in one campaign last weekend but that isn’t stopping Carlo Ancelotti from targeting a new striker.

A whole host of forwards have been linked with Everton in the last few weeks with the likes of Rafael Leao, Hwang-hee Chan and Andrea Belotti all reportedly on their radar.

This has all emerged in a week where their top scorer, Calvert-Lewin, was linked with a mega £80m move to Manchester United.

Irrespective of whether he leaves the Toffees could do with some more firepower, especially if they qualify for Europe.

More games mean a larger squad is required and they won’t be able to rely on Calvert-Lewin across potentially 50+ matches.

The aforementioned targets would all be adequate acquisitions but none would be better than a certain Sergio Aguero.

The Manchester City legend is set to wind down his career at the Etihad when his contract comes to an end this summer and Everton are one of his potential destinations.

Aguero is now 32 years of age but if you consider everything he’s done in the English game, he’d be a marvellous signing at Goodison Park. In fact, Ancelotti could take this Everton side to a brand new level by luring the Argentine to Merseyside in a few months time.

The striker is one of the best players we’ve ever seen in the Premier League and has scored 258 goals in 386 outings for City. He is the club’s record scorer and after he netted against Crystal Palace on Saturday, he put his side within reach of a fifth Premier League crown; all of which have come with Aguero in the team.

After his goal at Selhurst Park a few days ago, Pep Guardiola commented: “He’s an absolutely top legend, extraordinary player, behaving as the most humble and nicest human being and it’s not easy to find that. That’s why I love him as a man.”

The Spaniard has always been the first to hail the £240k-per-week earner. Following the announcement that he’d leave City, Guardiola said: “Aguero’s numbers speak for themselves… Maradona, an Argentine, conquered Italy. Messi, another Argentine, conquered Spain. And Agüero has conquered England. His numbers speak for themselves.”

To be mentioned in the same breath as Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona says it all.

Of course, it is easy to look at his injury history in the last few years as a concern. Aguero missed 24 matches last term because of muscle and knee problems while he’s been absent for 17 games through injury and illness in 2020/21.

That said, if the opportunity to sign a player like Aguero comes around, it cannot be passed up.

Ancelotti has already worked with some of the best players in world football throughout his career and his appeal could convince the veteran to head to Goodison this summer.

If he does arrive, it will be a landmark addition, a player with the devastating finishing abilities required to potentially take Everton closer to the big and greedy six.

ولعب خالد بوطيب مع الزمالك في الفترة من يناير 2019 حتى هرب بعد عام وأصبح بدون فريق حتى أكتوبر 2020 عندما انتقل إلى لوهافر حتى يناير الماضي الذي انتقل فيه إلى باريس إف سي.

شارك المغربي الدولي مع الزمالك في 14 مباراة في بطولة الدوري المصري وسجل 4 أهداف فقط، بينما كان دوليًا في 26 مباراة مع منتخب المغرب وسجل 9 أهداف.

وتحدث بوطيب عن سبب توقيعه مع الزمالك في عام 2019 خلال حواره مع شبكة “So Foot” الفرنسية، وقال: “المقابل المادي (ساخرًا)، عندما انتقلت إلى الدوري المصري، كان يتبقى لدي عام ونصف في عقدي مع مالاتيا سبور”.

وتابع: “الزمالك عرض علي ثلاث سنوات ونصف، وهذا يعني أنني سأظل هناك حتى عامي الخامس والثلاثين، لو كنت استمريت حتى نهايته، لم أكن حريصًا على فكرة التوقيع مع أي فريق في إفريقيا”.

وأضاف: “لكن عندما يقدم لك فريق مثل الزمالك، الذي يلعب في نصف نهائي دوري أبطال إفريقيا بشكل مستمر، فهذا يعد تحديًا رياضيًا كبيرًا، مصحوبًا بعقد طويل الأجل، وبالتالي، كان يصعب رفضه”.

وبسؤاله إذا كان هناك عروض وقتها من أي فريق آخر، رد: “كانت هناك شائعات حول اهتمام من جانب جالطة سراي، لكن لم يكن هناك أي شيء رسمي”.

وعن الدوري المصري: “مختلف بعض الشيء عن البطولات المحلية في أوروبا، اللاعبون المصريون لديهم إمكانيات فنية رائعة جدًا بشكل عام، معظم اللاعبين الذين شاركوا مع منتخب مصر في أمم إفريقيا الأخيرة كانوا زملاء سابقين، مثل محمد أبو جبل، مصطفى محمد وذلك على سبيل المثال”.

وواصل تصريحاته: “لاعبون جيدون لغاية، أود أن أقول إن بطولة الدوري المصري بشكل عام فنية وبدنية جيدة جدًا، من ناحية أخرى على المستوى التكتيكي فهي أقل من أوروبا”.

وعن أكثر الأشياء غرابة في الدوري المصري، أجاب بوطيب: “من أصل 18 فريقًا، كان هناك 14 فريقًا على الأقل يلعبون في العاصمة (القاهرة)، كذلك جدول المباريات به عشوائية، لا توجد مواعيد محددة ولا ملعب مخصص لكل فريق، يمكن أن تلعب الاثنين أو الخميس أو الأحد، وفي نفس الملعب يمكن أن تعتبر نفسك في ملعبك أو خارجه”.

واستمر: “حتى عام 2019، كان دوري أبطال إفريقيا يقام من يناير إلى يناير، لكن عند وصولي إلى الزمالك، تغيرت المواعيد وأصبحت من سبتمبر حتى مايو، لذلك لعبنا البطولة من يناير إلى مايو، أحيانًا كان فريقًا يلعب دوري أبطال إفريقيا والآخر في الدوري المصري أو العكس”.

وأتم: “في نهاية الموسم، فاز الزمالك ببطولة كأس الكونفدرالية، وهي بطولة مشابهة للدوري الأوروبي، كنا أيضًا نلعب نهائي كأس مصر، أتذكر لعبنا ربع النهائي ونصف النهائي والنهائي في أسبوع واحد”.

Speaking exclusively to The Transfer Tavern, former Premier League midfielder and Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie believes Celtic are not Eddie Howe’s first choice as he looks to get back into management.

Howe has been out of work since leaving Bournemouth last year following their relegation from the Premier League.

He has since been linked to the Celtic job, with many reports claiming that he is the Bhoys’ No.1 target in their search for a permanent successor to Neil Lennon.

Meanwhile, journalist Alan Nixon has reported that difficulties in assembling his potential coaching team have complicated things.

Hendrie, however, does not think Celtic are No.1 for Howe, suggesting that the 43-year-old is possibly holding out for another club as he continues to leave the Glasgow giants waiting.

On the Howe to Celtic links, the ex-Aston Villa player told TT in an exclusive interview:

“I think Eddie Howe, at the moment in time, I think he’s been linked with this job for so long, that I kind of feel like he’s waiting for something else to come along if you get what I mean. And I feel that’s not his first option.”

Howe has been linked with Premier League clubs, including Crystal Palace, so perhaps he has told Celtic to wait as he considers all of his options.

Roy Hodgson’s contract at Selhurst Park expires at the end of the season, meaning a job could soon open up there.

O clima pré-eleitoral nas Laranjeiras segue efervescente. Há dois dias do pleito presidencial, que definirá o mandatário do Fluminense nos próximos três anos, Marcus Vinícius Bittencourt, presidente do Conselho Deliberativo, publicou um texto no site oficial no qual nega qualquer fragilidade no processo eleitoral, considerado pelo mesmo como o mais democrático entre os clubes no Brasil.

Responsável por comandar o processo eleitoral no Fluminense, Marcus Vinícius também afirma que houve uma tentativa esdrúxula de denegrir a imagem do clube. No mais, o presidente do Conselho Deliberativo sai em defesa de Pedro Abad, candidato da chapa “Somos Fluminense” e apoiado por Peter Siemsen.

O texto de Marcus Vinícius Bittencourt pode ser considerado uma resposta à notificação enviada ao Conselho Deliberativo por coordenadores da campanha de Mário Bittencourt, da chapa “Fluminense me Domina”.No documento entregue na tarde de quarta-feira, a chapa cobrava esclarecimentos sobre a diferença no número de sócios aptos a votar nas listas entregues pela atual diretoria, que teve uma discrepância de 1.005 nomes.

Na notificação, a chapa afirma que a “existência de centenas de inconsistências” colocam a lisura do pleito em risco. Além disso, era esperado uma resposta dentro de 24h – prazo que se encerrou às 17h20 desta quinta-feira -, “sob pena de o assunto virar objeto de uma disputa judicial”, o que poderia até resultar no adiamento da eleição, a ser realizada neste sábado, dia 26, das 9h às 18h.

Confira abaixo, na íntegra, o texto publicado por Marcus Vinícius Bittencourt no site oficial do Fluminense às 16h15 desta quinta-feira:

“O Fluminense, nos últimos 15 anos, tem eleições diretas e agora, de forma inédita, vemos matérias na imprensa e notificações entregues ao clube com a intenção de criar instabilidade e de tentar passar uma falsa imagem de fragilidade do processo eleitoral.

Portanto, não é cabível nenhum tipo de tentativa de impugnação de uma candidatura. Creio que as pessoas deveriam refletir um pouco melhor sobre o caminho que estão tomando. Tentar judicializar um processo eleitoral que sempre foi democrático sem motivos claros para isso pode causar um enorme prejuízo à imagem do Fluminense e passar uma impressão bem negativa de busca de uma vitória a qualquer custo para as pessoas. O Fluminense tem hoje a eleição mais democrática entre clubes de futebol do país. O direito do torcedor ao voto é sagrado e precisa ser respeitado.”

West Ham United still have a lot to play for this season but there will be some big decisions to made in the summer.

The Irons are likely to be competing in Europe next term, so David Moyes will need to bolster his playing squad with quality additions and that recruitment process could be aided by shifting out some deadwood.

Amongst the culling candidates will surely be Felipe Anderson, who has spent the season on loan at Porto and has struggled to make an impression, failing to score in nine appearances.

“I have a contract with West Ham, so next season I’ll be here and I need to do my best to be back stronger,” he told talkSPORT but given the need to find a new striker and further depth options across the squad, the £13.5m-rated winger must be on the chopping block.

His time at the London Stadium has been nothing short of a disaster.

Back in the summer of 2018, the Brazilian attacker was signed by Manuel Pellegrini for a then club-record £36m, with that rising to £42m, and he is thought to be amongst the Hammers’ highest-earners on around £85k-per-week, which is more than Michail Antonio, Tomas Soucek, and Declan Rice, as per Spotrac.

For their heavy financial investment, the East London outfit have only seen 12 goals and 12 assists from 72 appearances, via Transfermarkt.

When factoring in the total amount they have paid towards Anderson, excluding this season’s stint with the Portuguese side, then he has cost GSB around £720k per game and £4.3m per goal.

These are finances that could be better spent on that lucrative new talisman, or in bolstering Moyes’ midfield and defensive options.

Ex-Irons man Frank McAvennie has been far from pleased with his progress, too. He exclusively told Football FanCast:

“He’s got to go. Let the boy go. They bought him in and he’s a luxury player. I’ve never seen him go into a tackle, never mind win one. Talent in abundance, but he’s gone to Porto on loan, but has done the same there – just strolled about. He can’t come back to West Ham; they’ll want him off the wage bill.”

On the above evidence, GSB must get rid of their 2018 flop at all costs this summer.

حصل لاعب فريق مانشستر سيتي أوليكساندر زينشينكو على شارة القيادة في مباراة اليوم ضد بيتربورو، في كأس الاتحاد الإنجليزي.

ويلتقي الفريقان بعد قليل في إطار منافسات دور الـ16 من بطولة كأس الاتحاد، موسم 2021/22.

وذكرت شبكة “بي بي سي” العالمية أن زينشينكو هو من سيرتدي شارة قيادة مانشستر سيتي في مباراة الليلة ضد الفريق الذي يلعب في تشامبيونشيب.

وأوضحت أن البرازيلي فرناندينيو هو من منح شارة القيادة لزميله زينشينكو، في إشارة للتضامن والدعم بسبب ما تعيشه بلاده أوكرانيا من ظروف عصيبة في الوقت الحالي.

وكان زينشينكو قد دخل في نوبة من البكاء قبل مباراة مانشستر سيتي وإيفرتون، يوم السبت الماضي، في الدوري الإنجليزي بعد إعلان الفريقين تضامنهما لأوكرانيا بعد غزوها من قِبل روسيا.
