The transfer window is an unnerving time for clubs without the financial ‘war chests’ at the disposal of the Premier League elite. Renowned scouts begin flocking to pre-season games – like vultures circling their prey – as they seek to identify potential targets.
At the height of media speculation it’s difficult for a player not be tempted by the bright lights of the big time but fans continue to live in hope they can keep hold of their prized assets.
